The Seiko SRP599J1 belongs to the Seiko 5 Sports collection, re-launched in 2019. Compared to the classic Seiko 5, the new generation features the 4R36 caliber with hacking (stop-seconds function) and manual winding, an exhibition case back, 100m water resistance, and an interchangeable strap system. The case measures 42.5 mm.

Case

The case of the Seiko SRP599J1 is made of stainless steel, with a diameter of 42.5 mm and a thickness of 13 mm. The unidirectional rotating bezel allows for precise measurement of dive times. The black dial is protected by Hardlex glass, a proprietary Seiko treatment for light scratches. The case back is exhibition (transparent), allowing observation of the movement in operation. The water resistance is 100 m, sufficient for swimming and snorkeling. The hour markers and hands are coated with LumiBrite, Seiko's luminescent material for extended night readability.

Movement

The Seiko SRP599J1 is powered by the 4R36 automatic caliber, offering a power reserve of approximately 41 hours. It includes hacking (stop-seconds function for precise time setting) and manual winding, two conveniences absent on the previous generation 7S26 caliber. The day-date display is positioned at 3 o'clock.

Bracelet

The Seiko SRP599J1 is fitted with a stainless steel bracelet, both robust and easy to maintain, secured by a folding clasp, which makes it easy to put on and take off the watch while securing the bracelet to the wrist. The lug width is 22 mm.
