A WATCH BORN FROM AN OBSESSION
The story of the G-Shock begins with a Casio engineer, Kikuo Ibe, who saw his own watch shatter after a trivial fall. From this accident, a simple idea was born: to create an indestructible watch. After more than 200 prototypes, the first G-Shock was launched in 1983, capable of surviving a 10-meter fall. More than forty years later, this requirement has not changed.
THE STRUCTURE: CUSHIONING WHEREVER IT MATTERS
The case suspends the movement at the heart of a shock-absorbing resin casing, away from the walls that absorb impacts. This architecture, refined over generations up to the Carbon Core Guard structure, now allows for thinner and lighter cases without sacrificing robustness. The range has branched out into specialized lines. The GA and DW models embody the original all-terrain spirit in various formats. The Mudmaster series adds reinforced mud and dust resistance for construction site environments. The Rangeman features a GPS and a compass for outdoor navigation. The Frogman, designed for diving, meets the requirements of the ISO 6425 standard. At the high end, the GMW-B5000 reintroduces the iconic square case from 1983 in an all-metal version, with radio control and Bluetooth connectivity.
