SEIKO PROSPEX WATCHES: ADVENTURE ON YOUR WRIST
The Seiko Prospex collection was born in 1965 with Seiko's first professional diver's watch, reference 62MAS. Designed for professional divers of the Japanese Navy, it laid the foundations for a philosophy that has never changed: watches capable of accompanying man in the most hostile environments, without compromising on reliability or style. Sixty years later, Prospex has become one of the most respected sports ranges in the world, worn by professional divers and passionate watch enthusiasts alike.
A COLLECTION DESIGNED FOR EXPLORATION
Prospex, a contraction of "Professional Specifications", says everything about the range's ambition. Each model is designed to withstand the most demanding environments. Diver's watches offer water resistance up to 200, 300 or even 600 meters depending on the reference, with knurled unidirectional bezels, anti-reflective sapphire crystals and SuperLuminova indices legible in total darkness. The 316L stainless steel or titanium cases offer shock and corrosion resistance that is as reassuring as it is impressive. These are precision tools disguised as watches.
THE PROSPEX HERITAGE: A HISTORY OF RECORDS
Prospex has accompanied legendary expeditions. In 1968, Seiko equipped the first Japanese expedition to Mount Everest. In 1975, a Seiko was on the wrist of the first Japanese to reach the summit. Under the seas, Prospex models have been used by scientific teams for dives to depths that few watches in the world can reach. This heritage of exploration is not a marketing argument: it is embedded in the technical DNA of each reference.
THE GREAT PROSPEX FAMILIES
The range is divided into several distinct universes, each with its own history and personality. The diving models, including the famous PADI references developed in partnership with the world's largest underwater diving organization, are recognizable by their high-visibility dials and their iconic blue and red colors. The Speedtimer revisits Seiko's great chronograph heritage with a decidedly sports-oriented design, in direct reference to the racing chronographs of the 1960s and 1970s. The Alpinist, meanwhile, pays homage to high mountain expeditions with their integrated compass, sober dial and finishes that stand out from the rest of the range. Finally, the Save the Ocean models demonstrate Seiko's commitment to ocean preservation, with recycled materials and editions where a portion of the profits is donated to environmental associations.
PROSPEX AND STYLE: THE SPORTS WATCH THAT GOES EVERYWHERE
What distinguishes Prospex from purely technical watches is its ability to transcend dress codes. A Prospex diver's model can be worn just as easily with a wetsuit as with a suit jacket on a weekday evening. The intricate dials, the mixed brushed and polished finishes, the interchangeable straps: Seiko has always conceived Prospex as a life watch as much as a sports watch. This is what earns it one of the most loyal communities of enthusiasts in Japanese watchmaking.
