Why is Orient launching the Flusso?

For several years now, integrated bracelet watches have become one of the most dynamic segments in affordable horology. The Tissot PRX paved the way, then the Citizen Tsuyosa followed in 2022, with such success that it sold out. A response from Orient was missing.

Rather than copying a formula that works, Orient went into its archives. The Flusso is directly inspired by the SK, for "Super King", an iconic family of sporty watches from the brand in the 1970s and 1980s. This heritage can be found in several details:

  • The four recessed elements at the corners of the case, which recall the exposed screws of the old SKs
  • The asymmetrical lines on the crown side
  • The gradient red, a historic color of the SK, carried over to the limited edition

As for the name, "Flusso" means "flow" in Italian: a reference to the case and bracelet that extend one another without interruption, like a single piece.

The message is clear: Orient is not offering yet another integrated bracelet watch, but a modern reinterpretation of its own heritage, with a technical specification designed to compete with the references in the segment, around €300.

The 5 references in the Orient Flusso collection

The collection includes four permanent models and one limited edition.

Here is the complete list:

Reference Dial Case and bracelet Series
RA-BB0203L30B Sunray blue Silver steel Permanent
RA-BB0202N30B Sunray dark grey Silver steel Permanent
RA-BB0204S30B Sunray silver Silver steel Permanent
RA-BB0201S30B Sunray white Gold-plated steel Permanent
RA-BB0205R30B Striped gradient red Silver steel Limited edition 4,500 pcs.

Note: all references share the same 39 mm case, the same F6522 automatic caliber, and the same 100 meters of water resistance. Only the dial, finish, and limited edition status distinguish them.

What makes the difference: key highlights

1. An unprecedented in-house automatic caliber

The Flusso introduces the F6522 caliber, an automatic movement developed by Orient, with manual winding and over 40 hours of power reserve. This is not a generic module but an in-house movement, which remains rare at this price point.

2. Sapphire crystal and 100 meters of water resistance

The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal, which resists everyday scratches much better than mineral glass. Thanks to its screw-down case back, the watch is water-resistant to 100 meters , so swimming and surface swimming pose no problem. It also meets the Japanese magnetic resistance standard JIS Type 1*, useful against the phones, computers, and speakers that surround us.

* Japanese industrial standard guaranteeing that a watch resists everyday magnetic fields (phone, computer, magnetic clasp), the main cause of mechanical watch drift.

3. A 39 mm size that suits everyone

With a 39 mm diameter and 10.9 mm thickness, the Flusso is slightly more compact than its direct competitors. It remains present on the wrist thanks to its 24 mm wide integrated bracelet, while easily slipping under a shirt cuff. This size suits both men and women.

4. A clean dial, without a date

Orient chose a dial without a date window, for perfect symmetry in the spirit of 1970s sport-chic watches. The hour and minute hands are luminescent for night reading.

The RA-BB0205R30B limited edition: the piece not to miss

If one model stands out in this collection, it is this one. The Orient Flusso RA-BB0205R30B is produced in only 4,500 pieces worldwide, including 1,100 reserved for the Japanese market. The pieces available in Europe are therefore barely a few thousand.

Its gradient red dial is not just an aesthetic choice: it is the historic color of the SK, which Orient collectors recognize at first glance. Vertically striped, it goes from bright red to deep burgundy depending on the angle of the light, and the effect on the wrist is striking.

One last detail that makes the difference: the case back is engraved with the Orient logo and the individual serial number of the watch. Each piece is therefore unique.

Ideal for: collectors, Orient enthusiasts who know the history of the SK, and everyone who wants a watch that does not go unnoticed.

Compared to the Tissot PRX

The PRX keeps a clear advantage: its 80-hour power reserve, which allows you to leave it for several days without it stopping, and its Swiss movement. However, it costs significantly more. The Flusso offers equivalent water resistance, a more compact size, and a heritage unique to Orient, for a significantly lower budget.

Compared to the Citizen Tsuyosa

This is the most direct competitor, at an almost identical price. The Tsuyosa offers a date and a wide range of colors. The Flusso responds with double water resistance (100 m versus 50 m), a cleaner dial, and a more angular case, directly inherited from the SK. Above all, the Tsuyosa does not have an equivalent to the Flusso's numbered limited edition.

Detailed presentation of each model

RA-BB0203L30B: the blue, the safe bet

The sunray blue dial catches the light with elegance, without overdoing it. It is the most versatile version of the range, and probably the one that will appeal to the greatest number.

Ideal for: a first integrated bracelet watch, to wear both at the office and on the weekend.

RA-BB0202N30B: the dark grey, sober and modern

More discreet, the sunray dark grey dial gives the Flusso a contemporary and urban look. It goes with everything, from a suit to jeans.

Ideal for: those who want an elegant everyday watch, without a strong color.

RA-BB0204S30B: the silver, all light

With its sunray silver dial and steel case, it offers a bright and refined monochrome look. It is the most dressed-up version of the collection.

Ideal for: sport-chic watch enthusiasts who prefer discretion to color.

RA-BB0201S30B: the gold, 100% 70s

The only version with a gold-plated case and bracelet, it combines a sunray white dial with gold indices and hands. Its unapologetic retro style directly recalls the gold watches of the SK era.

Ideal for: those who like the warmth of gold and want a piece of character.

RA-BB0205R30B: the gradient red limited edition

The striped gradient red dial, inherited from the SK, and the numbered case back make it the collector's piece of the range. With 4,500 pieces worldwide, it will be the first to disappear from stock.

Ideal for: collectors and those who want a rare watch at an still affordable price.

The F6522 caliber: Orient's new mechanical heart

The entire Flusso collection is powered by the F6522 caliber, a new in-house automatic movement . Here is what you need to know:

  • Winding: automatic, with manual winding possible
  • Power reserve: over 40 hours
  • Announced accuracy: +25 to -15 seconds per day
  • 22 jewels
  • Hacking seconds: stops the second hand for precise time setting

Admittedly, the PRX does better in power reserve. But for a watch worn daily, 40 hours is more than enough: it simply recharges with the movements of the wrist, and starts again in a few turns of the crown after a weekend at rest. It is a simple, robust, and easy-to-maintain movement, in the pure tradition of Orient.

Our opinion: should you cave in for the Flusso?

The Flusso ticks all the boxes: in-house automatic caliber, sapphire crystal, 100 meters of water resistance, 39 mm size, and a design that draws from Orient's history rather than that of its competitors. At around €300, it is one of the most complete offerings in the integrated bracelet watch segment.

But if there is one reference not to miss, it is the RA-BB0205R30B limited edition. With its 4,500 pieces for the whole world, its red dial full of history, and its numbered case back, it will no longer be available new once stocks are sold out.

In summary: you want the most versatile Flusso? Take the blue or the grey. You want a collector's piece at an still affordable price? It is the red limited edition.

FAQ: Orient Flusso

The RA-BB0205R30B limited edition is produced in 4,500 pieces worldwide, including 1,100 for Japan. Each watch features its serial number engraved on the case back.

What is the difference between the Orient Flusso and the Tissot PRX?
