The Seiko SRPL87K1 belongs to the Seiko 5 Sports collection, re-launched in 2019. Compared to the classic Seiko 5, the new generation features the 4R36 caliber with hacking (stop seconds) and manual winding, an exhibition case back, 100m water resistance, and an interchangeable strap system. The case measures 42.5 mm.

Case

The case of the Seiko SRPL87K1 is made of stainless steel, with a diameter of 42.5 mm and a thickness of 13 mm. The unidirectional rotating bezel allows for precise measurement of dive times. The yellow dial is protected by a Hardlex crystal, a proprietary Seiko treatment for light scratches. The case back is an exhibition (transparent) type, allowing observation of the movement in operation. The water resistance is 100 m, sufficient for swimming and snorkeling. The indexes and hands are coated with LumiBrite, Seiko's luminous material for extended nighttime legibility.

Movement

The Seiko SRPL87K1 is powered by the automatic caliber 4R36, offering a power reserve of approximately 41 hours. It includes hacking (stop seconds for precise time setting) and manual winding, two conveniences absent on the previous generation 7S26 caliber. The day-date display is positioned at 3 o'clock.

Strap

The Seiko SRPL87K1 is equipped with a silicone strap, flexible and resistant to water and perspiration, secured by a pin buckle, classic and easy to adjust. The lug width is 22 mm.
