The Seiko SSA785J1 belongs to the Presage Open Heart line. The opening on the blue dial directly exposes the 4R38 caliber in motion — a visual signature that illustrates mechanical watchmaking without filter. 40.5 mm case, sapphire crystal, 50 m water resistance.

Case

Made of stainless steel, the case of the Seiko SSA785J1 measures 40.5 mm in diameter and 13.1 mm in thickness. The bezel is fixed. The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal, the most scratch-resistant, with an anti-reflective coating. The case back is exhibition (transparent), allowing the movement to be observed in operation. Water resistance is 50 m, suitable for swimming and splashes.

Movement

The Seiko SSA785J1 is powered by the automatic caliber 4R38, offering a power reserve of approximately 41 hours. It integrates hacking (stopping the second hand for precise time setting) and manual winding, two conveniences absent on the previous generation 7S26 caliber. The dial opening reveals the balance wheel and a portion of the gear train, making the mechanics directly observable on the wrist.

Strap

The leather strap of the Seiko SSA785J1, fastened by a folding clasp, complements the case consistently. The lug width is 20 mm.
