The Gold Seiko 5 SNKC28J1: Automatic 7S26, 37 mm, 30 m Water Resistant
Collection
The Seiko SNKC28J1 is part of the Seiko 5 range, one of the most iconic lines in Japanese watchmaking. Launched in 1963, this collection embodies accessible automatics: a 37 mm case, a 7S26 21-jewel calibre, and 30 m water resistance. Note: the 7S26 does not have hacking or manual winding — an intentional characteristic of this entry-level calibre.
Case
The case of the Seiko SNKC28J1 is made of stainless steel, with a diameter of 37 mm and a thickness of 11 mm. The bezel is fixed. The protection of the gold dial is provided by a Hardlex crystal, a proprietary Seiko treatment for light scratches. The case back is exhibition (transparent), allowing the movement to be observed in operation. The water resistance is 30 m, suitable for splashes and rain.
Movement
The Seiko SNKC28J1 is powered by the automatic calibre 7S26, offering a power reserve of approximately 41 hours. This movement has neither hacking (stop seconds for time setting) nor manual winding — two functions intentionally absent from this entry-level calibre. Its accuracy fluctuates around ±15 seconds per day, which is expected for an automatic movement in this segment.
Bracelet
The Seiko SNKC28J1 is equipped with a stainless steel bracelet, which is both robust and easy to maintain, fastened by a folding clasp, which makes it easy to put on and take off the watch while securing the bracelet to the wrist. The lug width is 18 mm.
