Classic Black Seiko 5: 7S26 21 Jewels, 37mm, Exhibition Case Back
Collection
The Seiko SNKE53K1 belongs to the Seiko 5 range, one of the most iconic lines in Japanese watchmaking. Launched in 1963, this collection embodies accessible automatics: 37mm case, 7S26 caliber with 21 jewels, 30m water resistance. Note: the 7S26 does not have hacking or manual winding — an intentional characteristic of this entry-level caliber.
Case
The case of the Seiko SNKE53K1 is made of stainless steel, with a diameter of 37mm and a thickness of 11mm. The bezel is fixed. The Black dial is protected by a Hardlex crystal, Seiko's proprietary treatment for light scratches. The case back is exhibition (transparent), allowing observation of the movement in operation. The water resistance is 30m, suitable for splashes and rain.
Movement
The Seiko SNKE53K1 is powered by the automatic caliber 7S26, offering a power reserve of approximately 41 hours. This movement does not have hacking (stopping the second hand for time setting) or manual winding — two functions intentionally absent from this entry-level caliber. Its accuracy oscillates around ±15 seconds per day, which is expected for an automatic movement in this segment.
Bracelet
The Seiko SNKE53K1 is equipped with a stainless steel bracelet, both robust and easy to maintain, fastened by a folding clasp, which facilitates putting on and taking off the watch while securing the bracelet to the wrist. The lug width is 18mm.
