Golden hues and accessible mechanics: Seiko 5 SNKL48K1, 37 mm, 30 m
Collection
The Seiko SNKL48K1 is part of the Seiko 5 range, one of the most iconic lines in Japanese watchmaking. Launched in 1963, this collection embodies accessible automatics: 37mm case, 7S26 21-jewel calibre, 30m water resistance. Note: the 7S26 does not have hacking or manual winding — an intentional characteristic of this entry-level calibre.
Case
The case of the Seiko SNKL48K1 is made of stainless steel, with a diameter of 37 mm and a thickness of 11 mm. The bezel is fixed. The golden dial is protected by Hardlex glass, a proprietary Seiko treatment for light scratches. The case back is exhibition (transparent), allowing the movement to be observed in operation. The water resistance is 30 m, suitable for splashes and rain.
Movement
The Seiko SNKL48K1 is powered by the automatic calibre 7S26, offering a power reserve of approximately 41 hours. This movement does not have hacking (second hand stop for setting the time) or manual winding — two functions intentionally absent on this entry-level calibre. Its accuracy oscillates around ±15 seconds per day, which is expected for an automatic movement in this segment.
Strap
The Seiko SNKL48K1 is fitted with a stainless steel bracelet, both robust and easy to maintain, closed by a folding clasp, which makes it easy to put on and take off the watch by securing the bracelet to the wrist. The lug width is 18 mm.
