Classic Gold 37mm Seiko 5: 7S26 Non-Hacking, Gold Dial
Collection
The Seiko SNXC50J5 is part of the Seiko 5 range, one of the most iconic lines in Japanese watchmaking. Launched in 1963, this collection embodies accessible automatic watches: 37mm case, 21-jewel 7S26 caliber, 30m water resistance. Note: the 7S26 does not have hacking or manual winding — an intentional characteristic of this entry-level caliber.
Case
The case of the Seiko SNXC50J5 is made of stainless steel, with a diameter of 37 mm and a thickness of 11 mm. The bezel is fixed. The gold dial is protected by a Hardlex crystal, a proprietary Seiko treatment for light scratches. The case back is exhibition (transparent), allowing observation of the movement in operation. The water resistance is 30 m, suitable for splashes and rain.
Movement
The Seiko SNXC50J5 is powered by the automatic 7S26 caliber, offering a power reserve of approximately 41 hours. This movement does not feature hacking (stop-seconds for time setting) or manual winding — two intentionally absent functions on this entry-level caliber. Its accuracy fluctuates around ±15 seconds per day, which is expected for an automatic movement in this segment.
Bracelet
The Seiko SNXC50J5 is fitted with a stainless steel bracelet, both robust and easy to maintain, fastened by a deployant clasp, which makes it easy to put on and take off the watch while securing the bracelet to the wrist. The lug width is 18 mm.
