Golden hues and accessible mechanics: Seiko 5 SNXC52J5, 37 mm, 30 m
Collection
The Seiko SNXC52J5 belongs to the Seiko 5 series, which has been in continuous production for over six decades. It is one of the rare entry-level automatics that relies on an in-house caliber: the 7S26, which is reliable and low-cost to maintain. 37 mm case, 30 m water resistance, exhibition case back to observe the rotor.
Case
Made of stainless steel, the case of the Seiko SNXC52J5 measures 37 mm in diameter and 11 mm in thickness. The bezel is fixed. The dial is protected by a Hardlex glass, a proprietary Seiko treatment for light scratches. The case back is exhibition (transparent), allowing observation of the movement in operation. The water resistance is 30 m, suitable for splashes and rain.
Movement
The Seiko SNXC52J5 is powered by the automatic caliber 7S26, offering a power reserve of approximately 41 hours. This movement has neither hacking (stop seconds hand for time setting) nor manual winding — two functions intentionally absent on this entry-level caliber. Its accuracy oscillates around ±15 seconds per day, which is expected for an automatic movement in this segment.
Bracelet
The stainless steel bracelet of the Seiko SNXC52J5, closed by a folding clasp, complements the case consistently. The lug width is 18 mm.
