The Seiko SKZ211J1 belongs to the Seiko 5 Sports collection, re-launched in 2019. Compared to the classic Seiko 5, the new generation incorporates the 7S36 calibre with hacking (stop seconds hand) and manual winding, an exhibition case back, 100 m water resistance and an interchangeable strap system. The case measures 42 mm.

Case

The case of the Seiko SKZ211J1 is made of stainless steel, with a diameter of 42 mm and a thickness of 12 mm. The unidirectional rotating bezel allows for precise dive time measurement. The Black dial is protected by Hardlex glass, Seiko's proprietary scratch-resistant treatment. The case back is exhibition (transparent), allowing the movement to be observed in operation. Water resistance is 100 m, sufficient for swimming and snorkeling. The indexes and hands are coated with LumiBrite, Seiko's luminescent material for extended night-time legibility.

Movement

The Seiko SKZ211J1 is powered by the 7S36 automatic calibre, offering a power reserve of approximately 41 hours. This movement has neither hacking (stop seconds hand for setting the time) nor manual winding — two functions intentionally absent from this entry-level calibre. Its accuracy oscillates around ±15 seconds per day, which is expected for an automatic movement in this segment. The day-date display is positioned at 3 o'clock.

Strap

The Seiko SKZ211J1 is equipped with a stainless steel bracelet, which is both robust and easy to maintain, fastened by a folding clasp, which makes it easy to put on and take off the watch while securing the bracelet to the wrist. The lug width is 22 mm.
