Gold Seiko 5 Sports 42mm: 7S36 with hacking, 22mm lug width
Collection
The Seiko SNZ460J1 belongs to the Seiko 5 Sports collection, re-launched in 2019. Compared to the classic Seiko 5, the new generation features the 7S36 caliber with hacking (stop-seconds) and manual winding, an exhibition case back, 100m water resistance, and an interchangeable strap system. The case measures 42mm.
Case
The case of the Seiko SNZ460J1 is made of stainless steel, with a diameter of 42 mm and a thickness of 12 mm. The bezel is fixed. The gold dial is protected by a mineral glass. The case back is exhibition (transparent), allowing the movement to be observed in operation. The water resistance is 100 m, sufficient for swimming and snorkeling. The indexes and hands are coated with LumiBrite, Seiko's luminescent material for extended night-time readability.
Movement
The Seiko SNZ460J1 is powered by the automatic caliber 7S36, offering a power reserve of approximately 41 hours. This movement does not have hacking (stop-seconds for setting the time) or manual winding — two functions intentionally absent on this entry-level caliber. Its accuracy oscillates around ±15 seconds per day, which is expected for an automatic movement in this segment. The day-date display is positioned at 3 o'clock.
Strap
The Seiko SNZ460J1 is equipped with a stainless steel bracelet, both robust and easy to maintain, fastened by a deployant clasp, which makes it easy to put on and remove the watch while securing the strap to the wrist. The lug width is 22 mm.
