The Seiko SNZF17J2 belongs to the Seiko 5 Sports collection, re-established in 2019. Compared to the classic Seiko 5, the new generation incorporates the 7S36 caliber with hacking (stop-second hand) and manual winding, an exhibition case back, 100 m water resistance, and an interchangeable strap system. The case measures 42 mm.

Case

The case of the Seiko SNZF17J2 is made of stainless steel, with a diameter of 42 mm and a thickness of 12 mm. The unidirectional rotating bezel allows for precise measurement of dive times. The black dial is protected by Hardlex glass, a proprietary Seiko treatment for light scratches. The case back is exhibition (transparent), allowing observation of the movement in operation. The water resistance is 100 m, sufficient for swimming and snorkeling. The indexes and hands are coated with LumiBrite, Seiko's luminescent material for extended nighttime readability.

Movement

The Seiko SNZF17J2 is powered by the automatic caliber 7S36, offering a power reserve of approximately 41 hours. This movement does not feature hacking (stop-second hand for setting the time) or manual winding — two functions intentionally absent on this entry-level caliber. Its accuracy fluctuates around ±15 seconds per day, which is expected for an automatic movement in this segment. The day-date display is positioned at 3 o'clock.

Strap

The Seiko SNZF17J2 is equipped with a rubber strap, flexible and resistant to water and perspiration, fastened by a pin buckle, classic and easy to adjust. The lug width is 22 mm.
