Seiko 5 Sports SRPK97K1: Automatic 4R36, 42.5 mm, 100 m water resistance

Collection

The Seiko SRPK97K1 belongs to the Seiko 5 Sports collection, revamped in 2019. Compared to the classic Seiko 5, the new generation incorporates the 4R36 caliber with hacking (stop-seconds) and manual winding, an exhibition case back, 100m water resistance, and an interchangeable strap system. The case measures 42.5 mm.

Case

The case of the Seiko SRPK97K1 is made of stainless steel, with a diameter of 42.5 mm and a thickness of 13 mm. The unidirectional rotating bezel allows for precise measurement of dive times. The protection of the Blue dial is ensured by a Hardlex glass, a proprietary Seiko treatment for light scratches. The case back is exhibition (transparent), allowing observation of the movement in operation. The water resistance is 100 m, sufficient for swimming and snorkeling. The indexes and hands are coated with LumiBrite, Seiko's luminescent for prolonged night readability.

Movement

The Seiko SRPK97K1 is powered by the automatic caliber 4R36, offering a power reserve of approximately 41 hours. It includes hacking (stop-seconds for precise time setting) and manual winding, two conveniences absent on the previous generation 7S26 caliber. The day-date display is positioned at 3 o'clock.

Bracelet

The Seiko SRPK97K1 is equipped with a stainless steel bracelet, both robust and easy to maintain, fastened by a folding clasp, which facilitates putting on and taking off the watch while securing the bracelet to the wrist. The lug width is 22 mm.
