The Accessible Diver Icon: Seiko SKX007K2, 42.5 mm, 200 m
Collection
The Seiko SKX007K2 belongs to the legendary Diver's SKX series, produced from 1996 to 2019. ISO 6425 certified, this automatic diving watch established itself as the benchmark for accessible divers thanks to its robust 7S26 caliber, 42.5 mm case, and 200 m water resistance. The cessation of its production in 2019 only heightened its iconic status.
Case
The case of the Seiko SKX007K2 is made of stainless steel, with a diameter of 42.5 mm and a thickness of 13.25 mm. The unidirectional rotating bezel allows for precise measurement of dive times. The protection of the black dial is ensured by a Hardlex crystal, Seiko's proprietary treatment for light scratches. The case back is exhibition (transparent), allowing the movement to be observed in operation. The water resistance is 200 m, compliant with ISO 6425 diving standards. The indexes and hands are coated with LumiBrite, Seiko's luminescent material for extended nighttime legibility.
Movement
The Seiko SKX007K2 is powered by the automatic caliber 7S26, offering a power reserve of approximately 41 hours. This movement does not feature hacking (stop-seconds for time setting) or manual winding—two functions intentionally absent from this entry-level caliber. Its accuracy fluctuates around ±15 seconds per day, which is expected for an automatic movement in this segment.
Strap
The Seiko SKX007K2 is equipped with a stainless steel bracelet, both robust and easy to maintain, closed by a deployant clasp, which facilitates putting on and taking off the watch by securing the bracelet to the wrist. The lug width is 22 mm.
