Seiko SPB153J1 Captain Willard: The Green Military Diver, 200m, Caliber 6R35

The Seiko SPB153J1 is a special edition of the Prospex collection, paying homage to the character in the film Apocalypse Now (1979) who wore a Seiko diver's watch. This green model retains the military codes of the original model while incorporating the 6R35 caliber with a 70-hour power reserve and 200m water resistance, in a 44.3mm case.

Case

The case of the Seiko SPB153J1 is made of stainless steel, with a diameter of 44.3 mm and a thickness of 13.4 mm. The unidirectional rotating bezel allows for precise measurement of dive times. The green dial is protected by a sapphire crystal, the most scratch-resistant, with anti-reflective treatment. The case back is solid and screwed down. Its water resistance is 200 m, conforming to ISO 6425 diving standards. The indexes and hands are coated with LumiBrite, Seiko's luminescent material for prolonged nighttime readability. The case benefits from a Dia-Shield treatment (super-hard coating) which improves its scratch resistance.

Movement

The Seiko SPB153J1 is powered by the automatic caliber 6R35, offering a power reserve of approximately 70 hours. The 6R caliber is the high-end of Seiko's standard automatic movements: it features hacking and manual winding, and offers a significantly higher power reserve than the 4R calibers.

Strap

The Seiko SPB153J1 is equipped with a silicone strap, flexible and resistant to water and perspiration, fastened by a pin buckle, classic and easy to adjust. The lug width is 20 mm.
